He was born on April 16, 2005 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, SD to Dustin Weber and Jackie Thomas. He attended school in Watertown, SD until his 4 th grade year when he and his puppy, Chomper came to live with his grandparents Kathy and Dan Weber, whom he referred to as "Mom" and "Papa" on the farm near Clark. He attended school in Clark where he was a senior at the time of his death.
Zack loved music – any kind of music and loved singing in the school choir. He was also an avid reader. He enjoyed his Shooting Sports and was a very talented shooter, always being at the top of the class and was qualified to go to the State Trap Meet. He was looking forward to this next year of shooting. He enjoyed his Car Club and loved older cars – especially his Ford pickup.
He enjoyed spending special times with his "mommy", Jackie. They enjoyed sharing treats of watermelon and going to the car wash by her house late at night to detail their cars so no one would bother them. Zack always used titles for his family members like mommy, daddy, mom, papa, uncle, cousin or whomever family he was talking to.
Zack loved farm life in general and helping his Papa and Daddy. He was always ready to help his Papa with cattle, whether sorting, working, or loading them. He was "Mom's" go to guy - for anything she needed. He knew how to get her to make him something to eat – especially peanut butter and grape jelly sandwiches! He had several off the farm jobs that he really enjoyed as well.
At a young age, Zack learned to love hunting as much as his Daddy did. He helped with the hunters that came to the farm every year. He loved to go with his dad and puppy pheasant hunting as it was something that they enjoyed together and where he eventually became a better shot than his dad. Last year he shot his first buck ever and was so proud. He was looking forward to the next season so he could get a tag and do it again.
Preceding him in death were his "Papa" Jeff Thomas, his great grandmas and grandpas, and his cousin Kahne Lamb.
Survivors include his daddy, Dustin Weber of Clark, mommy, Jackie Thomas of Watertown, grandparents, "Mom" Kathy and "Papa" Dan Weber of Clark, grandma Julie Thomas of Watertown, and a host of family that loved him and especially his dog and best friend, Chomper.
We will always remember Zack's voice as he laughed.
We will always remember Zack's compassion and caring acts which was truly demonstrated by him choosing to be an organ donor at the age of 14. He was a very respectful young man.
We will always remember those things that made Zack unique, that were Zack's own way of doing things.
