Wilma Stevens, age 93, widow of Dale, died peacefully on Monday morning, July 23, 2018 in the Clark Care and Rehabilitation Center at Clark with family at her side. Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the First Baptist Church at Clark with Pastor Roger Shepherd officiating. Following a luncheon in the Church fellowship area, private burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Music will be provided by Christine Stevens, Emma Vig, Darci Adam and Grace Adam. Casket bearers will be Brad Stevens, Dave Adam, Eric Stevens, and Ntai Stevens. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services in the Church. There will be no visitation held at the funeral home. Wilma Mary "Billy" Stevens was born on October 25, 1924 in Raymond, South Dakota, to Otto and Jacquelin (Johnson) Fischer. She attended Ash Consolidated School north of Raymond. On December 1, 1941, she married Dale Stevens. The couple resided and raised their four children in Clark.
Over the years Wilma held various jobs, including county dispatcher, employee of the newly built Clark nursing home, and in later years, foster-mother. She also held several volunteer positions.
She was an avid reader whose favorite author was John Steinbeck. She read for enjoyment as well as broadening her knowledge of various topics. Wilma also enjoyed gardening, knitting, and caring for her pets – mostly rabbits and dogs. She also enjoyed a wide variety of music. Wilma was an excellent cook, known especially for her desserts. She loved and was very involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and newly born great-great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Dale Stevens, both parents, brothers Alton, Dale, and Merrill Fischer, and sisters Maxine Fischer, Lenore Huber, Bruce Liddicoat, and Jean Wear.
Wilma is survived by her children, Sheldy (Jean) Stevens of Clark, Karen (Russell) Eliason of Winston-Salem, NC, Randy Stevens of Clark, and Scott Stevens of Jordan, MN, as well as ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves behind one brother, John (Bette) Fischer of Tahoe, CA.
