Wilma M Pierson

Wilma Pierson, age 100, Clark, formerly of Willow Lake, died peacefully in the Golden Living Center at Clark on Sunday, April 26, 2015. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark with visitation 2 hours preceding services in the chapel. The Reverend's Roger Shepherd and Larry Mudgett will officiate. Dorothy Fuller will be the pianist with John Graves and Larry Mudgett will provide special music. The active casketbearers will be her nephews. The honorary casketbearers will be all of her family. Following services, a dinner will be served in the funeral home fellowship area following services. Burial will follow in the Collins Cemetery at Willow Lake. She was born Wilma M. Pierson on March 9, 1915 at Lavinia, Iowa, the daughter of Cleveland George and Elsie Martha (Smith) Pierson. At the age of four, she moved with her parents and sister to a farm northeast of Henry, SD. Wilma attended country school near Henry and then Henry High School, graduating in 1932. In 1940 she graduated from a theological course in Mitchell and then went to work at a religious publishing office at Tabor, IA. She then did some missionary work in Arizona and Des Moines, IA. Wilma then moved to California where she took music lessons. Wilma was a member of the Faith Missionary Association at Mitchell and was a founding member of the First Baptist Church at Clark. In her free time, she thoroughly enjoyed music and sewing. Wilma's faith was extremely important to her, she could often be found with a bible in her hand. Preceding her in death were her parents and two sisters, Fern (Harland) Mudgett and Ilah (Walt) Wurtele, a niece, Delores, a nephew, Jerry, and nephews-in-law, Berniel and Ron. Survivors include nieces, Arlene, Verla, Beryl, Glenda, Arlys, Gayle, Sharyl, DiAnn, Denise and Linda and nephews, Larry, Terry, Randal, Marlin & Rod and their families and her Church family.
