Wilma Bull

Wilma Bull, beloved mother, grandmother and community member, passed away on March 13, 2024, at the age of 85, at Wakonda Heritage Manor Avera. Born on January 7, 1939, to Ernest (Eugene) and Ida Lorenz, Wilma's journey through life was marked by resilience, compassion, and dedication to her loved ones and her passions.

Growing up on the family farm west of Clark, SD, Wilma developed a love for horses and became known for her prowess as an equestrian, particularly in barrel racing and pole bending, earning the affectionate nickname "Billie." Her high school years were filled with entrepreneurial endeavors, including raising geese for extra income.

Following her graduation, Wilma embarked on a diverse career path, showcasing her versatility and work ethic. From cooking and bartending to selling home products like Home Interiors and Tupperware, she tackled multiple jobs simultaneously, a testament to her industrious spirit. However, it was her role in the dental office of Marty Oleson where Wilma found her true passion, serving in various capacities from dental assistant to receptionist, scheduler, and accountant.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Wilma dedicated her time and energy to serving her community in numerous volunteer roles, including as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), a Senior Companion, and an acolyte at her church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, evident in her devout Catholicism and participation in spiritual retreats for enrichment.

In her leisure time, Wilma found joy in bowling, dancing, golfing, and cherishing moments with her family. She was married to Larry Bull, with whom she raised four sons, Tim, Scott, Dan, and Steve, in Clear Lake, SD. While her journey included other marriages, it's her enduring commitment to her family and community that will be remembered most fondly. She was a spirited cheerleader of her four boys and their interests, among them car mechanics, trumpet playing, wrestling, or golf, basketball, and football, along with support for all four boys' time in military service. Grandchildren and great grandchildren also brought many happy moments for her.

Wilma Bull leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and boundless determination. She is survived by sons Tim Bull, Pensacola, Florida; Scott (Sue) Bull, Sioux Falls, SD; Dan (Robi) Bull, Elsie, MI; Steve (Shelli) Bull, Dakota Dunes, SD.; grandchildren Katie, Kendra, Rhiannon, Matt, John, Mike, Jameson; and fourteen great grandchildren.

A mass of christian burial to celebrate Wilma's life will be held at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Clark, SD, March 26, 2024 at 2 p.m. The funeral will be live streamed at the time of service and may be viewed on the Furness Funeral Home Facebook page.
