Wilbur "Junior" Dunlavy

Wilbur "Junior" Dunlavy passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.

Visitation will be held at Furness Funeral Home Monday, December 27, 2021 from 5-7PM and one hour prior to service.

Service will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran in Clark, SD at 10AM. Lunch to follow in church basement.

Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery with family only present.

Wilbur "Junior" Dunlavy was born January 28, 1944 to parents; Wilbur and Loreta (Abelt) Dunlavy. He was born, raised, and lived on the family farm near Crocker, South Dakota.

Junior graduated from Conde High School in 1962 and joined the National Guard. He was in basic training for 6 months and would go once a month for the next 6-7 years for Guards. On October 8 ^th , 1966, he married the love of his life, Charlene Taylor. They had 4 children, Theresa, Jamie, Darin, and David.

Junior worked for Steve and Shawn Witt, Hub City Livestock, and Aberdeen Livestock. He was a farmer and a rancher; that was his passion. He milked cows and raised cattle and sheep. Junior also enjoyed hunting in the Black Hills; primarily deer, but he even hunted antelope.

Junior was very fond of going to the family reunions and he enjoyed playing his card games like Hearts, Pitch, and Whist.

Junior is survived by his daughter, Theresa (Joe Oelke) Dunlavy; son, Darin (Melissa) Dunlavy; siblings, Larry (Viola) Dunlavy, Don (Susan) Dunlavy, Janice (Grant) Hanson, Clara Luvaas, and Darlene (Les) Gross; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents; Wilbur and Loreta (Abelt) Dunlavy, 2 sons, Jamie and David Dunlavy; his wife, Charlene (Taylor) Dunlavy, his maternal and paternal grandparents, and brother in-law Glen Luvaas.
