Wava Arlene Kretzschmar

Wava A. Kretzschmar, age 91. Willow Lake, died in a Watertown care facility on Friday morning, May 25, 2018.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 5-7 PM at the Willow Lake Evangelical Lutheran Church in Willow Lake and will continue on Wednesday morning after 9AM at the Church.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 10:30 AM in the Willow Lake Evangelical Lutheran Church at Willow Lake with The Reverend Randy Bader officiating.  The organist will be Aris Schmidt with special music by Danny Schmidt. The casketbearers will be Brent Jorgensen, J. R. Borg, Mason Weidenbach, Brady & Carter LaMont, Palmer Boyd, and Devin Turner. Burial will follow in the Collins Cemetery at Willow Lake.

She was born Wava Arlene Seefeldt on October 16, 1926 in Lake Township, rural Clark County, South Dakota, the daughter of Fred and Sadie (Miller) Seefeldt. Wava attended rural school west of Willow Lake.

On June 16, 1946 she was united in marriage to Donald Kretzschmar at the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Willow Lake. The couple lived and farmed in Hague Township for 45 years, retiring in 1994 and moving into Willow Lake. Donald's earthly life ended on Monday, August 1, 2005 in Bryant at the age of 80.

Wava continued being very active in her Church and in the community, attending many events. When her health continued to fail, she became a resident of the Edgewood Community in Watertown.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, sons, Verlin in 1950 and Kevin in 1974 and siblings Oliver, Lester, Alvin, Marcella, Gordon and Richard Seefeldt.

Survivors include her children, Linda (Bryce) Collins of Willow Lake, Peg (Dale) Jorgensen of Sioux Falls, Verdon (Judy) Kretzschmar of Custer, Rodell (Desiree) Kretzschmar of Willow Lake, and Pam (Kendall) Borg of Garretson. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, Chantrell, Roxy, Shannon, Brent, Felicia, Sarah, JR, Darcy, Devin, and Breanna and 15 great-grandchildren.
