When she was five years old, her parents bought a farm in Fordham Township south of Raymond. She attended Fordham schools all her grade school years and then attended Doland High School her freshman year. Her parents then moved to Raymond where she graduated from Raymond High school in 1942. The night she graduated from high school, she and Marvin Deslauriers became engaged. In the fall of 1942, Marvin joined the US Navy and served in WWII. During the war, Wanda worked in the automation department in a defense plant in Benicia, CA.
Wanda and Marvin were united in marriage on Oct. 30, 1945. Marvin became Standard Oil agent in 1946 and they made their home in Raymond, SD where they lived some 18 years. During these years, Wanda assisted with their business, raised their three daughters as well as helped manage Bob's Grocery in Raymond. In 1964, they decided to move "house and all" to Clark where they later formed Deslauriers Oil Company. After selling the business in 1986, the couple moved to Lake Kampeska in 1990. They wintered in Arizona 18 years and enjoyed years of traveling together, having gone to all the States except Alaska.
