Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 1:30 PM at Good Hope Church of rural Vienna with Vicar Pam Seefeldt presiding. She was born Violet Harriet Solberg on October 21, 1933, to Martin and Hazel (Sparby) Solberg in Clark County, north of Bradley. Clark County was her home for her entire life. Harriet attended country school through the eighth grade and then graduated from Garden City High School in 1951.

On June 23, 1951, Harriet married Marvin Ness, and together they made their home on his farm near Vienna. Faith and service were important parts of Harriet’s life. She was baptized at Our Saviors Church near Lily and confirmed at Good Hope Church near Vienna, where she was an active and devoted member. Harriet taught Sunday School and Bible School, served as Foxton Township treasurer, and was a member of the Foxton school board for many years until the school closed. For more than 50 years, she worked as a tax practitioner from her home office, helping many in the community.

After Marvin’s passing in 1981, Harriet found companionship again when she married Kenneth Nordhus in 1982. They lived on his farm north of Clark until 2000, when they moved into their home in Clark.

Harriet found joy in sewing and baking and was especially proud of the many quilts she lovingly made over the years.

Those grateful for having shared in Harriet’s life are her children, Bruce Ness of Madison; Marlin Ness (special friend Susan Neuharth) of Vienna; and Marvene (Craig) Reinbold of Aberdeen; her five grandchildren, Dawn, Julie, Morgan, Hiedi, and Cody; three great-grandchildren, Hayden, Carson, and Boston; along with three step-children and nine step-grandchildren.

Harriet was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Marvin Ness and Kenneth Nordhus; a daughter Marcella Ness; and a granddaughter Laura Ness.
