Violet Mae Heiden

Violet M. Heiden, age 94, Watertown, the widow of Howard Heiden, died in the Jenkins Living Center on Sunday afternoon, February 10, 2019 after suffering an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark with The Reverend Marilyn Spurrell officiating.  Dorothy Fuller will be the pianist.  Soloists will be Joy Lubinus and Merwyn Larson.  Burial will be in the spring in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark.  Visitation will be held one hour preceding services in the Chapel.

She was born Violet Mae Lamb on July 26, 1924 at Willow Lake, the daughter of Thomas and Mae Violet (Hart) Lamb.  She attended school at Olson Rural School near Willow Lake through the eighth grade and after her graduation she went to the School of Cosmetology at Watertown.  She worked at the Vanity Beauty Salon at Clark, for Pearl Larson and Ida Waba.

On June 22, 1944 she was united in marriage to Howard Henry Heiden in the Congregational Church at Watertown.  Howard worked for a brief time for Violet's brother, Ralph Lamb, near Willow Lake before moving to a farm near Elrod in 1945.  They wintered for several years at Donna, TX after retirement.  The couple lived and farmed there until moving to Benet Place in Watertown in 2008.  In 2016 Violet became a resident of Jenkins Living Center.

Besides being a Cosmetologist in Clark for several years, she helped on the family farm.  She had been a member of the Henry Senior Citizens and was an active member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, serving several offices in that group.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Howard, siblings, Eldon (Mildred) Lamb, Ralph (Clarine) Lamb, Herbert Lamb, Emmet (Cathy) Lamb, Willard (Wilma) Lamb, Loretta (Milton) Larson, Floyd Lamb, Rueberta Lamb and a grandson in infancy, Brogan Mack.

Survivors include a daughter, Marlene (Harry) Munkvold of Chamberlain and Rollie (Janet) Heiden of Watertown, 6 grandchildren, Tamra (Jon) Fischbach, Kari (Bill) Toupal, Sonia (Scott) Mack, Dale (Julie) Heiden, Rena'e (Dean) Bosch, and Joanne (Levi) Tvedt, 14 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Lamb of Vienna, SD.
