Violet Drexler, age 89, Clark, formerly of the Raymond community, died in the Clark Care and Rehabilitation Center early Wednesday morning, February 21, 2018.  She was the widow of Clifford Drexler.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 4-6PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and will continue on Saturday morning after 9AM at the Church in Clark.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 10:30 AM in the Peace Lutheran Church (WELS) at Clark with The Reverend Randy Bader officiating.  The organist will be Barb Wegman. Tom Riddle, Roger Collins, Tim, and Steve Mehlberg will be the casketbearers. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark.

She was born Violet Marie Collins on January 23, 1929 in Hague Township, Willow Lake, SD to parents William and Anna (Vick) Collins. Violet graduated from Clark High School in 1947 and then went on to receive her teaching degree from Northern Normal in Aberdeen. She taught school in Hague Township for a time.

Violet married Clifford Drexler on May 19, 1954 at the Presbyterian Church in Raymond. The couple moved to the Black Hills and then came back to Raymond in 1960. Clifford died in 1978. Violet continued to live in Raymond until the late 1980's when she moved to an apartment in Clark. She later moved into Roetell Assisted Living Center and most recently to the Clark Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She was a member of the Clark Senior Citizens, the Raymond American Legion Auxiliary where she had received an award for being a 50 year member, the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Raymond and since 1991 the Peace Lutheran Church of Clark. Violet was a great cook and could bake the best caramel rolls and bread. She also enjoyed playing cards and doing word search puzzles.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Clifford, brothers, Bill Collins, Osmer (Doris) Collins, Orval (Gwen) Collins, Oscar Collins, Dan (Pat) Collins; and brother-in-law Clarence Mehlberg.

Survivors include her children, Donna (Larry) Crook of Redfield, Marshall (Paula) Drexler of Harrisburg, Scott (Jody) Drexler of Raymond and Russell Drexler of Brandon; grandchildren Miranda (Rob), Michelle, Jeff (Nichole), Katie (Jeff), Emily (Jon), Julia, Kevin, Angelique, Maggie and Mollie; 15 great grandchildren; brother Charles (Connie) Collins of Denver, CO; sister Eleanor Mehlberg and sister-in-law Trudy Collins, both of Clark. Memorials may be given in her honor to the Peace Lutheran Church of Clark or Clark Senior Citizens.
