He was born Victor James DesLauriers on August 5, 1928 on the family farm in Turton Township, the son of Lester and Frances (Bertsch) DesLauriers. He attended school at the Ash Consolidated School north of Raymond, and the Barrie Country School at Turton. After schooling he worked on the family farm.
During younger years he worked as a machinist in San Diego, CA and also poured cement at the Fort Randall Dam. Vic went onto purchase his own gravel truck and worked in South Dakota and surrounding states.
In 1960 he was united in marriage to Doris Jeanne Gergen. Their children are BonNae, Frank, John, and Tim. He enjoyed coaching Little League when he was not helping his father operate Lester's Recreation in Doland.
Vic was a member of the St. Joseph Church in Doland and Turton. He enjoyed hunting over the years, and watching baseball on the television, especially the Twins and the Braves. Vic was very dedicated to his work. He also played pinochle, some might say, it was because Jeanne loved to play the game, so he went along with it!
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Jeanne on July 11, 2015, a brother William, and a sister and brother-in-law, Donna (Lyle) Reppe.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his children, BonNae Funk of Vermillion, Frank DesLauriers, John (Annie Heer) DesLauriers, and Tim (Kam Iverson) DesLauriers all of Doland. He also leaves 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, a brother, Ted (Esther) DesLauriers of Ellensburg, WA, a sister, Peggy (Leroy) Monson of Crocker, SD, and a sister-in-law, Carol DesLauriers of Watertown.
