Vickie Bjerke

Vickie Bjerke, age 67, died at the Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, SD on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

She was born on August 30,1956, at Chamberlain, to Donald "Dunk" and Elva (Van Gilder) Bjerke. Vickie lived in various South Dakota communities before moving to Crown Point, Indiana in 1964 with her family.

In 1993, Vickie moved back to Watertown where she resided for the remainder of her life. Vickie was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Watertown. She was baptized in Crocker, South Dakota.

If you had the opportunity to know Vickie, you know she had a loving heart and a sweet personality that could brighten any room. She was always eager to make her way across the room to greet you with a hug. Vickie had an incredibly special bond with her mom and dad. Jesus says in John 15:12, "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." Vickie helped each of us realize that the important things in life come from the heart. Vickie loved everyone. She will be greatly missed but knowing that Heaven is where she will spend eternity is joyous and comforting for those that will miss her.

Vickie enjoyed many things including watching the Chicago Cubs, taking care of her kitties, working in the garden, helping raise the sheep, bowling, family gatherings, and seeing or visiting on the phone with Steve, Doni, and her nieces and nephews.

Grateful for having shared in Vickie's life is her mother Elva of Watertown, her siblings Steven of San Francisco CA and Donelva (Boyd) Dunham of Brighton CO, her nieces and nephews Lance (Briana) Bjerke and their children Aria, Aven and Anna of Melbourne FL, Colton, (Alison) Bjerke and their children Cedar and Ansel of Silver City NM, Stephanie Dunham of Cheyenne WY, and Kendra Dunham of Bradenton FL.  Vickie is also survived by many cousins that loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her father, Don.
