Verna Sasse Ochsner

Verna Sasse Ochsner, age 95, Woodburn, OR, died on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at a Trigard care center in Oregon. Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at 2PM in the Ullyott Building, Community Center at Clark, SD. The Reverend Kevin Peterson will officiate. Music will be presented by Wayne and Fern Olson. Private family burial will take place in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. There will be no visitation. The Furness Funeral Home of Clark is assisting the family. Verna Iverson was born on November 21, 1915 in Clark, the daughter of Martin and Anna Iverson. She was united in marriage in 1935 to Walter Sasse. The moved to Hubbard in 1956 and Verna worked at Birdseye. Walter died in 1971. In 1974 she was married to Jake Ochsner. He died in 2002. Verna was an artist. She also loved gardening, exercising and cooking. She was a member of the Hoodview Church of God in Woodburn, OR. From 1973-200 she lived in the Woodburn Senior Estates and also at Cascade Park. Survivors include her daughters, Inez McGowan of Wilsonville, OR and Donna Giffin of Chandler, AZ, a son, Elton Sasse of Yuma, AZ, a brother, Wesley Iverson of Canton, SD, 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. www.furnessfuneralhome.com for an on-line registry.
