Vera M. Grensberg, 95, of Willow Lake, the widow of George Grensberg, died Monday, May 5, 2014 at Bryant Parkview Care Center. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 5-7PM at the United Presbyterian Church in Willow Lake and will continue in the Church on Saturday morning after 9AM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10:30AM in the United Presbyterian Church at Willow Lake with The Reverend Richard Poppen officiating. JoLayne Symens will be the organist. Burial will follow in the Collins Cemetery at Willow Lake. Casketbearers will be Troy Grensberg, Craig Brenden, Joshua Hebert, Logan & Reed Tonak and Jack Ringdahl. Vera Matilda Grensberg was born on November 15, 1918 at Spirit Lake, DeSmet S.D., daughter of Anton and Laura (Schubert) Poppen. She attended grade school at Shady Lawn School, Spirit Lake and then DeSmet High school, graduating in 1937. She attended Huron College for one year. Vera worked at Hasche Insurance Company and the ASCS office in DeSmet, S.D. She was united in marriage to George O. Grensberg on March 20, 1942 at Raymond, S.D. by Rev. O.B. Ottmans. Together they farmed east of Willow Lake until 1984, when they moved into Willow Lake. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening and playing cards with her friends. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Willow Lake. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of the Witty Wives Neighborhood Patching Club and Willow Lake Senior Citizens. Mrs. Grensberg is survived by her children, Larry (Gaylen) Grensberg of Willow Lake, Vivian (LaVene) Brenden of Topeka, KS; five grandchildren: Troy (Pam) Grensberg, Clark; Carmen (Kent) Ringdahl, Abercrombie , ND, Nicole (Dan) Tonak, Willow Lake, Lisa (Tim) Hebert, Topeka, KS, Craig (Traci) Brenden, Hutchinson KS, 13 great- grandchildren, and one brother, Arnold "Cork" (Illdena) Poppen of DeSmet. She is preceded in death by her husband in 1992, parents, and a sister Irene.
