She was born on February 20, 1920 at Clark, SD, the daughter of Lester and Anna (Laskowski) Morey. She attended Clark Schools and graduated from Clark High School with the Class of 1938 reigning as CHS Homecoming Queen her senior year. Velma enjoyed fond memories of her growing up in the Clark community with her five siblings.
Clark is also where she met the love of her life, Glenn "Buckley" Bruflat, and after many wonderful turns on the dance floor, they were married on May 9, 1941. Velma and Glenn farmed in the Wallace area for 25 years. She lovingly served her church and the community during those years and raised a family of three daughters. In the late 1960's they moved into Clark where Velma put her love of cooking and children to good use by working for many years in the food service area of Clark High School. So many friends and fond memories were made during that time.
Spending time with her family was her favorite thing. She enthusiastically cheered on her six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and always knew all about their many adventures. Always smiling and full of fun, she was a positive influence on whomever she met.
Preceding her in death were her parents, loving husband Glenn in 2006, two sisters and three brothers.
Velma died peacefully Thursday morning at the Prairie Lakes Hospice Center in Watertown. A special thank-you to the staff for their extraordinary loving care during her final journey. She will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Deanna (Larry) Pincombe of Madison, WI, Linda (Roger) Young of Watertown, SD, and Peggy (Doug) Dunn of Minneapolis, MN; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials would be preferred to the Prairie Lakes Hospice at Watertown in her memory.
