Velma E. Bachman, widow of Leo, age 92, Clark, died in the Avantara Watertown Care Center on Monday evening, April 6, 2020.

Due to the current COVID-19 conditions, visitation and services will be private on Friday, April 10th with Pastor Mark Tracy officiating.  Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark.

Velma was born was born on June 13, 1927, in a Watertown Hospital, the daughter of Roy and Nettie (Olson) Heiden. She attended country school in Merton Township through the eighth grade. Velma graduated from Clark High School in 1946. She attended Summer School in Aberdeen, SD and then taught country school for two years.

On December 21, 1947, she was united in marriage to Leo H. Bachman at the Methodist parsonage at Clark.  They lived on the farm north of Clark in Mount Pleasant Township.  Leo passed away on November 1, 1996.

Velma was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church at Clark.

She moved into Viking apartments in September of 1997.  Velma was a resident of the Wookey Center for nearly a decade,  since 2010.  In February she moved to the Avantara Care Center at Watertown.  She enjoyed crocheting, word seek, marbles, playing cards, and especially being with her family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Leo, siblings, Darrel (Lois) Heiden and Roberta (Allen) Smith.

Survivors include her children, Karyl (Jim) Somers of Watertown, Jerry (Cyndi) Bachman of Zell and Leland Bachman of Watertown as well as other extended family members.

The family requests no floral tributes or memorials, cards only please.
