Treva M. Headley, age 103, of Clark, died early Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown. Visitation will be held Friday, August 28, 2015 from 5-7 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Garden City United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Garden City Cemetery. Treva Mae Headley was born on July 31, 1912, to Roy and Iva (Hartley) Young in Garden City, South Dakota. She was raised on a farm 1 ½ miles north of Garden City. She graduated from eighth grade at the Garden City School. In February, 1929, she married Arthur Blashill in Clark, South Dakota. The couple had four sons, Robert Ellsworth, Wayne Arthur, Keith James, and Larry Allen. Mr. Blashill died in 1964. Treva owned and operated The Home Cafe in Garden City for thirteen years. She married Charlie "Stub" Headley in 1968, and the couple moved to Webster, South Dakota. Treva sold Avon while living in Webster. Mr. Headley died in 1976; and Treva moved to Clark where she lived until 1980. She then moved back to her hometown of Garden City, residing in the newly built Garden City Manor. Treva was an officer and active member of the Garden City United Methodist Church and United Methodist Church Women. She served as President of the Garden City Development Corporation; and President of the Garden City Cemetery Association for 50 years. Treva also served on the Garden City Centennial Board, the Garden City PTA, and the Garden City American Legion Auxiliary. Treva loved gardening, canning, crocheting, cooking, baking, fishing, dancing, and playing cards and bingo. She spent many hours tending to her roses and gladiolas which she shared with the church and her many friends and family members. Treva was well-known for her strawberry jelly and homemade horseradish. She truly enjoyed cooking for potluck every other Thursday at the Manor. Her parents; two sons, Larry and Bob; her husbands; three brothers, Jim, Glenn and Joe Young; two sisters, Lois and Lola Young; and one daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Blashill preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Wayne Blashill, of Henry, and Keith (Elaine) Blashill of Rapid City; one daughter-in-law, Lucille Blashill of Wall; one sister, Mrs. (Milton) Geraldine "Toot" Persoon of Madison, South Dakota; one brother, Marvin Young of Renton, Washington; one sister-in-law, Elsie Young of Watertown; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; twenty-three great-great grandchildren; one great-great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
