Tommy "Tom" Mehlberg

Tom Mehlberg, 61, of Raymond, SD passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the Clark Care Center following a mighty battle with cancer.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Furness Funeral Home in Clark from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Burial will be in the Spring at Prairie Valley Cemetery in Raymond.  The Reverend Randy Bader will say committal prayers at the Funeral Home.  Casketbearers will be Terry Mehlberg, Aaron Mehlberg, Justin Bowers, Doug Schiernbeck, Ernie Kohrs, and Randy Hamann.

Tom was born January 3, 1958 at Redfield,  to Dale and Gloria (Hartman) Mehlberg. He joined a brother, Terry. Tom's early years were spent on the family homestead before moving to Rapid City, SD. Tom resided in Rapid City and around the Black Hills for many years before eventually moving back to their family farm in Raymond ten years ago.  Tom had three children, Aaron, April and Amber.

Tom attended Logan School and as the country schools consolidated, he then attended Raymond School and onto Clark. Tom was a mechanic in Clark. He was married to Lori (Hamann) Mehlberg to which two daughters, April and Amber were born to that union. They moved to Rapid City in 1988 for Tom to be a distributor for Dakota Style Chips and then Pepperidge Farm. Tom had a love for the Black Hills, riding his motorcycle, Dale Earnhardt, and the Minnesota Vikings. He was a fantastic cook and made the best homemade ice cream. He loved old cars, racing, and tinkering on anything he could get his hands on. Tom was a giant kid and loved playing with the latest and greatest toys and technology. His time was well spent working hard and playing hard. His love for his friends and family did not go unnoticed.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Dale, mother, Gloria and daughter, Amber.

He is survived by a brother Terry Mehlberg of Raymond, son, Aaron (Bethany) Mehlberg of Portland, OR, daughter, April (Dan) Fitzgerald of Summerset, SD, and five grandchildren, Isaiah, Waylon, Memphis, Sapphire, and Wyatt.
