Tina Hansen

The family of Doug and Tina Hansen would like this thank-you to members of the community:

Never are we made more aware of how much our family and friends mean than after experiencing a loss.  We can't thank or community enough for the kindness, generosity, and support shown to our family during this difficult time.  We are beyond grateful for the people in our lives and the town we call home.  The memory of our parents, Doug and Tina Hansen, will fly on in our hearts forever.

Tina Hansen, age 55, of rural Garden City, died tragically on Sunday, September 13, 2020, along with her husband, Doug Hansen, in a plane accident in Brown County near Groton, SD.

Memorials in their memory will be appreciated in lieu of flowers.

Visitation Services will be held from 8:30-11:00AM on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at the Clark County Airport. Funeral Services will follow, beginning at 11:00AM with Reverend Mark Tracy officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.

Tina Bernice (Karber) Hansen was born in Watertown, SD, December 26, 1964, to Roger and Linda (Graves) Karber, the second of five children.

She attended Clark Schools, graduating in 1983. During school she was active in basketball, gymnastics, choir and band, playing percussion and piano. She even reined as homecoming queen her senior year.

After graduating she attended North Dakota State School of Science, now College of Science. She studied computer programming for two years, receiving her associate's degree in 1985.

After college she moved back to Clark and worked for Riddle's Jewelry in Watertown.

Tina married Doug Hansen on Valentine's Day in 1991. They celebrated their two sons, Jed in 1993 and Caleb in 1996.

Tina worked in the IT Department at Creative Home Furnishings in Webster before transitioning to Avera Health Plan out of Webster.

Tina was one who would love to tell you a story and you usually had to allow yourself plenty of time because she was one who did not leave out any details. Tina enjoyed everything she did in life. She loved taking her dogs on daily walks, riding her airdyne and her horse, and collecting unique items such as throwing knives, marbles, and mini pistols- to name a few! One would say she even collected cars. Beyond her collections was her love for shopping. If it was something that she really liked she would buy it in every color the company had. Tina also continued to carry her love of music. She would play the piano and sing in choirs regularly. Even today, Tina would be able to sit down and play her favorite, "Music Box Dancer," from memory. Tina truly was a gracious person and a friend to everyone.

Preceding Tina in death were her grandparents.

Tina is survived by her parents, sons, Jed and Caleb Hansen; brothers, Brian (Dianne) Karber of DeSmet, Bill Karber of Clark; sisters, Lisa (Ronnie) Clausen of Clark, Tresa (Todd) Hemmingson of Bradley; along with countless other family and friends.

Funeral arrangements are with the Furness Funeral Home at Clark where there is an online registry at www.furnessfuneralhome.com
