Thomas "Tom" R. Myers

Tom R. Myers, age 88, formerly of Henry, SD, passed away surrounded by family at the Jenkins Living Center in Watertown, SD on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Furness Funeral Home of Clark, SD with a time of refreshments and fellowship to follow in the funeral home fellowship hall. Burial will be at a later date at the Garden City Cemetery of Garden City, SD with military honors.

Thomas Russell Myers was born on April 15, 1935 to parents Howard and Margaret "Laura" (Mankey) Myers in Watertown, SD.

He graduated school from Henry, SD and enlisted in the Navy on February 17, 1954. He served as a Seaman Recruit in bootcamp then was promoted to Aviator Metal Smith 2nd class until his honorable discharge on December 6, 1957.

On July 7, 1990, Tom married Helga Givens at the Garden City United Methodist Church. To this union; he gained three stepsons: Butch, Ron, and Roger.

Tom was a simple man who loved his family, but his life and true enjoyment were his cattle, his horses and working with his hands in the field.

A stoic man who was well respected, hardworking, and loved by all who met him; he will be greatly missed.

Tom is survived by his wife, Helga Myers, stepsons, H.R. "Butch" (Jody) Givens, Ron (Robbyn) Givens, brothers, Bill Myers and Jim (Mary) Myers, sister, Mary (Mike) Burdick, grandchildren, Jeff (Lauren) Givens, Kaitlyn (Alex) Eddy, Prescott Givens, Darian Givens, Tom (Lindsey) Givens, Steve (Emily) Givens, and Jenn (Tyler) Kranz, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Tom in death are his parents, Howard and Laura Myers, brother, Henry Myers, sister in-law, Carol Myers, and stepson, Roger Givens.
