Theodore "Ted" Frank Mehlberg

Theodore "Ted" Mehlberg, 83, of Raymond SD, passed away peacefully December 16, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. Born October 22, 1941, in Clark, SD, Ted lived a life filled with hard work, love, and laughter.

Ted married the love of his life, Mary Lou (Conley) Mehlberg, on March 15, 1969, beginning a beautiful journey that lasted over five decades. Together, they built a family rooted in love, humor, and an appreciation for life's simple joys.

Ted served his country proudly as a member of the U.S. Army stationed in Etain France and carried the values of service and dedication into his daily life. A truck driver by trade, Ted worked tirelessly for the Peavey Elevator, DeSmet, Raymond Coop Elevator and the Clark County Highway Department, along with various farmers in the area. Whether hauling grain or maintaining roads, Ted took pride in his work and the community he served.

Outside of work, Ted found joy in life's quieter moments. An avid pheasant hunter and fisherman, he loved the outdoors. Ted also loved the art of a perfectly mowed lawn, a task he approached with both precision and pride.

Ted was the loving father of two daughters, Carrie Reis (Randy) and Rhonda Jordan (Jerod), who fondly remember his wit, wisdom, and warmth. He was also a proud grandpa to Mackenzie Ries (Todd), Austin Reis (Megan), Eathan Jordan, and Jacob Jordan. Ted's legacy continues in his great-grandchildren, Easton, Walker, Hope, Harper, Aivah, Aubreigh, and Maverick, who brought him endless joy. He also leaves behind his brother, Gerald Mehlberg.

Known for his sense of humor, Ted's favorite sayings, including "Shit happens," "That's not how Charles Ingalls did it," and "Down the hall," will continue to bring smiles to those who knew him.

Ted's life was a testament to hard work, love, and resilience. Though he is deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the family and friends he cherished.

A celebration of Ted's life will be held Saturday, December 21st, 10:00 a.m. at Furness Funeral Home, with visitation on Friday, December 20th from 5-7 pm also at Furness Funeral Home, Clark SD.

Rest easy, Ted, knowing that your laughter, love, and wisdom will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew you.
