Shirley M. Pederson, age 79, the widow of Leonard Peterson, died in the Beverly Health Care Center at Clark on Friday evening, January 28, 2005. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 31, 2005 at 11AM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark with the Reverend Roger Semmler officiating. Marvine Obermeier and Wendy Christman will provide the music. Casketbearers will be great-nephews with the honorary casketbearers being Alvah Macer, Alvin Waxdahl, Ralph Johnston, Dale Stevens and the Staff and Residents of the Beverly Healthcare Center at Clark. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-6 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and 2 hours preceding services at the Church on Monday morning. She was born on October 26, 1925, the daughter of Fred August and Maud (Elliott) Kimm. She attended Clark schools graduating in 1943. On February 25, 1946 she was united in marriage to Leonard H. Pederson at Pipestone, MN. The couple farmed in Day Township until 1947 when they moved to a farm in Woodland Township. In 1972 they retired and move to Clark. She worked as the bookkeeper for the City of Clark in the Municipal Liquor Store for many years. she entered the care center in 1986. Mr. Pederson died in 1990. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark, American Legion Auxillary, a former member of its women's group and also a former member of the Nimble Fingers Extension Club and the Clark Golf Club. She enjoyed crocheting, handiwork, baking and will long be remembered during her time at the care center as "The Candy Lady" - passing out pounds of candy monthly for all the years she was a resident. Survivors include a son Richard Pederson and wife Mary Jo of Palm Desert, CA, a grandson Travis Pederson of Conde and a former daughter-in-law, Kathy Pederson of Carthage, MO. Preceding her in death were her parents, 2 grandsons, Keith and Erik, a brother Bill Kimm, step brother Lloyd Zimmer and 2 step-sisters, Izetta Lien Grace and Helen Lewis.
