Shirley Ann (Farness) Vandale

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 4-6PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and after 9AM at the Church in Clark on Friday.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 10:30 AM in the United Methodist Church at Clark with Pastor Mark Tracy officiating.  The organist will be Wanda Bethke. The casketbearers will be Allen Farness, David VanDale, Jamie Durham, Michael Rost and Jay Podhradsky. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark.

She was born Shirley Ann Whetsel on March 6, 1937 at Bradley, SD, the daughter of Clive and Gladys (Raymond) Whetsel. Shirley was schooled in the Garden City/Henry area.

She married Harlan Farness on September 6, 1966. He died in March of 1968. She later married Art VanDale. He died in January of 2011.

Shirley lived in the Fay Wookey Memorial Assisted Living Center from December of 1998 until December of 2014,  where she enjoyed walking downtown for coffee. In the past few years she lived in the Jenkins Living Center at Watertown.

Preceding her in death were her husbands, a granddaughter, Macie Farness, siblings, Charles Whetsel, Della (Frank) Swanson and a brother in infancy.

Survivors include her children, Allen (Rhonda Eidet) Farness, Sharlene (Jamie) Durham all of Watertown, David (Laura) VanDale of Colorado Springs, CO and Jay Podhradsky of Huron. Her 6 grandchildren, Brittany Rost, Morgan Bachman, Caleb & Noah VanDale, and Alexis Farness & Adrianna Smith and a great-granddaughter, Kinzley Rost also survive.
