Shirley E. Dreher, age 94, a lifetime resident of Clark County, died at Avantara Clark on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 10:30 am at the Furness Funeral Home of Clark with Pastor Randy Bader officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Furness Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery of Clark.

Shirley Dreher, age 94, a lifetime resident of Clark County, died at Avantara Clark on August 24, 2025.

She was born Shirley E. Gillies on August 18, 1931, the daughter of Reginald and Ethel Gillies.  She attended country school through the 8th grade, and graduated from Clark High School in 1949.  After graduation, she worked in the Clark County Auditor's office.  On October 14, 1951 she was united in marriage to Carl Dreher.  Shirley worked at Citizens State Bank in Clark until 1957.  The couple lived on the farm southwest of Clark where they raised their children.

Shirley returned to work as the Clark County Deputy Treasurer until she retired.  She was a member of the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Clark.  She continued living on the farm until May of 2016, when she moved to Clark.

Shirley's hobbies included gardening, playing the piano (by ear), dancing, cooking, and baking.  She loved visiting with family and friends.  The coffee was always on and fresh cookies were always ready whenever visitors stopped by.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Randy (Ellen) of Watertown, Rod of Clark (Yao Louis of Watertown), and Rhonda Miller of Salem; her 8 grandchildren: Trenton (Payton), Lauren (Seth), Kohl (Allison), Eugene (Amanda), Sheryl (Jake), Laura (Eric), and James (Rachelle); 10 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Carl; parents Reginald and Ethel; and her sisters Maxine, Beverly, and Barbara.

Furness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
