Sharon Olson, 66, Clark, formerly of Bradley, widow of Dennis, died at her home suddenly on Monday, January 8, 2018 of natural causes.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 5-7PM with a Liturgical Wake Service at 7PM all in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning, January 13, 2018 at 10:30 AM in the St. Michael's Church at Clark with The Reverend Daniel Smith celebrating and The Reverend Timothy Backous concelebrating. The casketbearers will be Terry, Jerry, & Rick Backous, Casey and Chris Olson, and Justin Wagner. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery at Clark.
She was born Sharon Marie Backous on September 25, 1951 at Aberdeen, the daughter of Earl and Donabelle (Youngerman) Backous. Sharon attended school at Roncalli School in Aberdeen, graduating in 1969. It was in Aberdeen that she met, fell in love with and married Dennis C. Olson, an Aberdeen Police officer. The couple married on June 29, 1973 in the Sacred Heart Church at Aberdeen.
Following their marriage, they lived in Watertown where she worked for the K-Mart store for a couple of years. Other than those 2 years, Sharon, also known as "Tanna" to several, was a stay-at-home Mom to their children, Chris, Jennifer, Nicole, and Casey. She also did the bookkeeping for her husband's trucking firm, Dennis C. Olson Trucking.
In 1981 they bought an acreage south of Bradley in Thorp Township. In July of 2001 they moved into Clark. Dennis died on February 3, 2010.
In her free moments, she loved sports of all kinds, especially the Minnesota Twins and watching her children and grandchildren participate in school sports. She thoroughly adored the grandchildren and all of their activities. Sharon also enjoyed some reading as well. In the community she and her husband Dennis "Speedy" were charter members of the CCR, Clark County Riders and she enjoyed bowling.
Her faith was extremely important to her, having been a member of the St. Michael Parish for many years. Hardly a funeral or other activity at the Church would happen without her helping in some way.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Dennis, and a brother, Tom Backous.
Survivors include her children, Chris (Theresa) Olson of Watertown, Jennifer Olson (Jeremy Deyo) of Owatonna, MN, Nicole (Justin) Wagner of Goodhue, MN and Casey (Melissa) Olson of Clark, and 14 grandchildren, Branden, Allisen, Maycie, Kendall, Ryder, Journey, Torri, Reagan, Jada, Corbin, Waylan, Weston, Jorja, and Abbie; siblings, Terry (Deb) Backous of Glenham, Jerry (Ruth) Backous of Lisbon, ND, Marcia (Ray) Schwan of Aberdeen, Jean (Paul) Yada of Burley, ID, Joan (Rick) Rozell of Huron, and Rick (Deb) Backous of Andover, and a sister-in-law, Kelly (Cary) Wolf of Aberdeen. She also leaves a brother-in-law, Donald (Susan) Olson of Bradley.
