Scott Makens

Scott Makens, age 53, St. Michael, MN, formerly of Clark and Watertown, died Thursday, April 13, 2023.

A Prayer Servicel will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 10 am at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Clark, SD with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Reverend John Short will be the celebrant.  Following a lunch, the burial will take place at the St. Boniface Cemetery in Clark.

Scott was born on September 13 ^th 1969 to Ray and Shirley Makens in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Scott grew up in Clark, SD and moved with his family to Watertown, SD in June 1982. He graduated high school in 1987. Scott then went to Northern State College and South Dakota State University.

Scott moved to Detroit, MI where he worked with his uncles. Scott lived in Detroit until 2006, then he moved to Minnesota to pursue a career in bail bonds.

Scott met the love of his life in Minnesota. Kathryn Hall and Scott were together for 13 years before her passing.

Scott and his daughter Taylor Wellman connected in 2014. Scott and Taylor's family enjoyed each other's company and have many memories together including trips, games, and family gatherings.

Scott is preceded in death by his father, Ray Makens, significant other, Kathryn Hall, maternal grandparents, Harold and Ramona Markuson, paternal grandparents, James and Mary Makens, brother in-law Jake Makens, uncles Tim Makens and Rich Makens, faithful companion Rusty Makens, and close friends.

Scott is survived by his mother, Shirley (Makens) Olverson, daughter, Taylor (Darin) Wellman and their 3 children, Kamden, Everly, and Kolyns, brother, Tom Makens, sister, Marnie (Matt) Dondoneau, niece Katlynn Gilliland, nephews, Brodee Gilliland, Hayden Dondoneau, and Hudson Dondoneau, uncles, Mike (Pam) Makens and Gary (June) Markuson, many loving cousins, and special friend, Tiffany Brenna.
