He was born Scott Allen Townsend on February 4, 1973 in the Chamberlain Hospital at Chamberlain, SD. His family moved to the Carpenter area in 1980 and then in 1990 they moved to a farm north of Willow Lake. Scott, better known as "Scottie" attended school in Willow Lake and graduated in 1991 from Willow Lake High School.
Scottie worked for several years for Norman G. and Gary Nelson on the farm west of Willow Lake. He became employed at CMI in DeSmet for 11 years and in 2014 went to work for Wheat Growers as a truck driver out of the Carpenter facility. He thoroughly enjoyed this job because he was in the truck alone, just him and his thoughts!
As all of you know, Scottie thoroughly enjoyed NASCAR, wanting Tony Stewart to win all the races, or also maybe Bobbly LaBonte in there a time or two. Scottie collected many scale models of race cars, tractors and other farm equipment, coins and knives. He enjoyed collecting many other aspects of NASCAR from pictures, posters and other memorabilia.
Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Ralph and Darlene Dingman and the family dog of 19 years, Prince.
Survivors include his parents, Roy and Marlene Townsend of Willow Lake, his paternal grandmother, Helena Townsend of Carpenter, sisters, Trudie Terreo of Houston, TX and Aimee Rausch of Gettysburg, SD, 4 nephews, Mitchell, Justin, Tyler, and Owen and a niece, Brittney. Memorials would be appreciated to the Humane Society in care of his family at Willow Lake.
