Ruth G. Schweiger, age 86, Watertown, formerly of Clark, the widow of Joe, died early Saturday morning, December 15, 2012 in the Golden Living Center at Watertown where she had resided since July. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-6 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and will continue after 9AM Wednesday morning at the Church. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 10:30AM in the St. Michaels Catholic Church at Clark with The Reverend John Short officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. A dinner will be held in the St. Michael's Parish Hall following the burial. Active Casketbearers will be Teresa, Larry & Scott Day, Codi & Brandi Schweiger, Tim Mehlberg and Dale Eppenberger. Honorary Casketbearers will be her nieces, nephews, cousins and anyone else who has touched her life in any way. She was born Ruth Goldean Raines on August 19, 1926 in Ash Township, rural Clark County, near Raymond, SD, the daughter of Charles and Frieda (Baumann) Raines. She attended school through the eighth grade at the Ash Consolidated School. On January 29, 1944 she was united in marriage to Joseph A. Schweiger at the St. Michael's Church at Clark. The couple lived and farmed near Raymond, SD, then moved to Finlayson, MN and then lived in Clark for over 40 years. Mr. Schweiger died in 1985. Ruth continued making Clark her home until moving to Watertown to be near her children. She was a member of St. Michael's Church at Clark. Some of her fondest moments were spent babysitting, baking - giving much of it to others, reading books and second to none though was her love of gardening and canning. She always had others in mind and was so willing to help her family as needs arose. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, siblings, Sam (Irene) Raines, Robert Raines, Edmond "Fuzzy" (Izetta) Raines, Edward (Norma) Raines, Clyde Raines, Irene (Charles) Mehlberg and Leona (Klaus) Johnson. A son-in-law, Bernie Day and several nieces and nephews also preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Thomas M. Schweiger and a daughter, Mary H. Day both of Watertown, 5 grandchildren, Teresa, Larry, Brandi, Codi, Scott (Alicia), 9 great-grandchildren, Deontey, Ashton, Shia, Zoey, Jerica, Lena, Jiaya, Alexia and Lincoln.
