Russell L. Kretzschmar age 64, Watertown, formerly of the Clark area, died in the Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown on Saturday afternoon, February 18, 2012. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 10AM in the St. Michael's Catholic Church at Clark with The Reverend John Short officiating. Casketbearers will be Chad, James, Jerry, Tracy & Dean Kretzschmar and Stan Sowers, Jr. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery at Clark. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-7PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and after 9AM Thursday morning in the Church. He was born Russell Lee Kretzschmar, son of Clark and Irene (Spaniol) Kretzschmar, on July 30, 1947 at Watertown. He was raised in the Willow Lake and Clark communities where he attended school. On July 30, 1977 he was united in marriage to Jeannie Rasmussen. She passed away in 2009. Russell "Russ" spent a lifetime driving truck, being an over the road trucker, something he thoroughly enjoyed. Russ also enjoyed time fishing, grilling out and other outdoor activities. He served his country by being a member of the National Guard. Russ was a member of the Catholic faith. Preceding him in death were his parents, Clark and Irene, his wife Jeannie and a sister, Kathy Schroeder. Survivors include his sons, Chad (Leona) Kretzschmar of Bryant, James (significant other, Kayla) Kretzschmar of Gillette, WY and Jerry (Shawna) Kretzschmar of Hayti, 11 grandchildren, a brother, Frank (Julie) Kretzschmar of Watertown and a brother-in-law, Don Schroeder of Sioux Falls.
