Ruby Dreher age 86, Blue Springs, MO, formerly of the Watertown/Clark communities, died at home peacefully surrounded by her beloved Papillion dog – Bear, granddaughter, Kathryn Williams and husband Brad and a great-great-grandson, Jace in Blue Springs early Saturday morning, February 18, 2017 after a brief illness.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 5-7PM at the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark and will continue in the chapel after 9AM on Wednesday morning. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 11AM in the funeral home chapel with The Reverend Mindy Ehrke officiating. Dorothy Fuller will be the pianist. Honorary casketbearers will be all the nieces, nephews and their families. The active casketbearers will be Harley and Jamie Gloe, Steve and Roger Dreher, Steve Zweifel and Jace Mashburn. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark.
Following the services a lunch will be served in the funeral home reception area.
She was born Ruby E. Page in Hettinger, ND on September 30, 1930, the daughter of William & Flora (Scott) Page. Ruby, her mother and sisters moved to Clark and built an in-ground home.
On June 1, 1952 she was united in marriage to Robert Dreher. The couple lived and farmed in Darlington Township until his death on July 14, 1987. In 1992 Ruby sold the farm and moved to Watertown where she resided until 2015, when she moved to Blue Springs, MO to be near her best friend and niece, Barbara Mead.
While living at Clark and Watertown Ruby worked at Chef Reddy Foods, a fiberglass plant, a café, as well as helping Bob on the farm. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith at the Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church in 1952.
Some of her hobbies included gardening, raising flowers-especially marigolds, working puzzles, going to the stock car races, playing bingo, bowling – being part of the 1968-1969 Women's International Bowling Congress, crocheting, playing pinochle, cooking, baking, sewing, traveling, and playing Yahtzee. Many of you will remember too her love of fishing and second to none though was spending time with her dog, Bear, and her family, especially her great-great- grandson, Jace.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherrie DeMarrias of Rapid City, sister, Winnie Fisk of Watertown, a granddaughter, Kathryn (Brad) Williams, great-grandchildren, Cierra, and Christa (John) Hanten and great-great-grandchildren, Jace, Jeremiah, and Myla. She also leaves several nieces and nephews including Don Gilliard who spent countless summers with her and his children, Elden, and Angie, great-nieces and nephews including a special family, Danice (Steve) Zweifel and family, Tanner and Jazmin, and a sister-in-law, Shirley Dreher of Clark.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, a grandson, J. C. Ferrell in 2007, and siblings, Pearl, Doll, Ada, Willis "Vink", Ern, Myrt, and Elvina.
