Roxanne (Roxy) Marie Kerkvliet, age 70, of Lake Poinsett, South Dakota, died Monday, April 22, 2024 at the Sanford Hospital in Clear Lake, South Dakota.

Visitation will be held at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Bryant, SD on Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 3:00 - 5:00 PM and one hour prior to the service. A prayer service will follow the visitation at 5:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial with Reverend Richard Baumberger presiding will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the St. Mary Catholic Church with a burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery of Bryant. All are welcome to join the family after burial at the Bryant Community Center for lunch and a time of fellowship.

Roxanne, the third of six children, was born to Vincent and Doris (Lebert) Kumm on December 29, 1953 in Watertown, SD and lived her childhood in Watertown. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1972.

Roxanne met her husband, Greg, during high school. They married on May 19, 1973 at St. Mary's Church in Bryant. Upon their marriage, they moved to the family farm three miles west of Bryant where they raised their four children: Heather, Jason, Ryan, and Mike. She quickly adjusted to farm life and loved spending time with Greg and the kids doing things like gardening and going for drives to look at the crops and cattle. She loved working with and seeing her kids involved in 4H projects, church groups, and sports.

Roxy enjoyed serving many different roles in the church including Parish Council, Altar Society, lector, and Sunday School teacher. She also served on boards for several different organizations and touched many lives during her career as secretary of Hamlin High School for 38 years. After moving to Lake Poinsett in 2014, she found joy in golfing, being around friends and family, playing pickleball, and traveling. She traveled to places like Peru, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Ireland, and Scotland. She and Cliff had a love for music and enjoyed cruises and concerts with friends.

Family was Roxy's greatest love. She loved being a grandma to her grand-kids and was known for always cooking the best meals when grand-kids came to visit. She would play yard games, cards, or just sit and snuggle with the grand-kids. Whatever they wanted!

Roxanne is survived by her four children - Heather Kerkvliet (Jim Hulscher) of Florence, SD; Jason (Jenny) of Clear Lake, SD; Ryan (Katie) of Sioux Falls, SD; Mike (Chalsea) of Tea, SD; her grandchildren Owen, Tate, Natasha, Ella, Hadley, Nolan, Emma, Alonzo, Arielle, Trinity, and Madisyn; a great-grandson, Ryatt; her sisters, Kathy (Gene) Bierscheid and Deb (Larry) Lutz; her three brothers, Kelly (Judy) Kumm, Marty (Linda) Kumm, and Todd (Ann) Kumm; her significant other, Cliff Steuck; Randall Fallas, who became like an adopted son; and Greg Kerkvliet.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vince and Doris Kumm and her parents-in-law, Bernard and Gerri Kerkvliet.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to them that may be distributed to Roxy's favorite organizations and charities.

Funeral arrangements are being entrusted to Furness Funeral Home of Clark, SD where there is an online registry at www.furnessfuneralhome.com.
