Ronald R. Hinman, age 89, Raymond, died peacefully in the Avantara Clark Care Center on Thursday morning, December 5, 2019.

Burial with full military honors will be held September 6, 2022 at 10:30 AM in the Prairie Valley Cemetery at Raymond. Mary Filipek will lead the graveside services.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, from 5-7 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark with a Memorial Service at 7PM.  CRE Michelle Mehlberg will facilitate the memorial service.

He was born Ronald Ralph Hinman on May 1, 1930, near McCracken, KS, the son of Ralph and Mabel (Plotner) Hinman.  He attended country school near McCracken and then Junior High and High School at McCracken, graduating in 1948. He then attended Kansas State University until deciding to enlist in the United States Air Force.  He left Kansas in 1951 and was inducted into the Air Force.  He served his country honorably until 1955.  While in the service he met Dorothy Crownover and they were united in marriage on January 16, 1953.

In August of 1955, after making a trip to South Dakota with his father, he bought a farm near Raymond.  In October, Ronnie, Dorothy and 2 children, Steven and Rhonda, moved to a farm near Raymond.  In addition to farming, Ron was a member of the 147th Battery C National Guard unit from 1959-1961, that he helped form in Clark.

Farming became a big part of his family's life, especially raising chickens, first with 6,000 laying hens and then from 1964-1978 raising 9,000 pullets at a time. Later on the farm they raised sheep, and then Black Angus cattle.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Raymond, an original founder of the Clark Rural Water System and board member, has been a 50 plus year member of the Baker Post 209 American Legion at Raymond and served as a Past President of the Clark County Farmer's Union.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Dorothy in 2016, and siblings, Donna, and Wendell.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his children, Steve (Cindy) of Castle Rock, CO,  Rhonda Hinman of Renton, WA, Gayle (Andrew) Hillner of San Rafael, CA, Pam (Jim) Davis of Myrtle Creek, OR, Shelly (Chuck) Keyes of Henry, SD, and Craig Hinman of Raymond; 4 grandchildren, Elliot, Emily, Eric, and Ryan; and 8 great-grandchildren, Zeke, Sully, Sarai, Payton, Ruby, Kelsie, Danzig, and Max.. a brother, Clyde Hinman also  survives.

Memorials would be appreciated to the Raymond Presbyterian Church in his memory in lieu of flowers.
