Ronald Lee Bjerke, age 57, of Watertown, SD, the son of the late Palmer and Lela (Fryslie) Bjerke of Bradley, SD, died on suddenly on Friday, December 28, 2012, at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Per Ron's request, cremation has taken place and burial of his ashes will take place in the spring at Prairie Hill Cemetery at Bradley. The Furness Funeral Home of Clark is in charge of arrangements. Ron, or "Boston" as he was known as to his friends, was born on November 1, 1955 at Webster, SD. He attended school and grew to adulthood in the Bradley area. Following his schooling, he worked for various farmers in the area. After moving to Watertown, he drove truck for various individuals hauling cement. He also lived in Rapid City for a time and did the same there as well as working for various golf courses doing their mowing. After returning to Watertown, he enjoyed mowing at the golf course there and also began his own mowing business for a while. Ron was a people person and enjoyed his time in the mornings and afternoons having coffee with his friends at the various cafes. He also enjoyed spending time with family members living in care centers on the weekends. Second to none was his love for pets, namely his cat "Cole". Ron was a proficient pool player skilled in both snooker and eight-ball, having many trophies as proof for his love of the sport. Surviving Ron are aunts/uncles including Louise Bjerke of Clark, Esther Bjerke and Joyce Schoenbeck, both of Watertown, Myrtle (Gerald) Batenhorst of Frist, TX, LeRoy & Doris Fryslie of Watertown and Jearaldine Fryslie of Santa Ana, CA, many cousins and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
