Robert "Bob" Tennis

Robert "Bob" Tennis, 77, of Conde, SD, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 in rural Conde as a result of an automobile accident.

Visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Turton, SD.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend Greg Tschakert officiating. There will be a lunch and fellowship following. Interment will follow in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Conde, SD at 1:00 p.m.

Robert Louis Tennis was born October 15, 1946 to parents Louis and Shirley (Nash) Tennis in Aberdeen, SD.  He grew up on the family farm near Conde and attended Conde Schools graduating in 1964. While in high school, he was active in football and basketball.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Huron College, Huron, SD where he also played football for the Huron College Tribe. He later obtained his Masters in School Administration from Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD.

Bob was a teacher, football and basketball coach, athletic director and principal for Wilmot Schools for thirty-three years. During those years, he made many friends and touched many students' lives. He retired in 2001 and moved back to the family farm near Conde where he raised cattle and various crops.  Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing but mainly tending to the farm, whether it was helping out or just driving around checking the crops.

He was a lifelong member of the St. John and St. Joseph Catholic Churches and a member of the St. John's Cemetery Board.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Louis and Shirley, a sister in infancy, and a son, Eric Tennis.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his sons, Todd (Amy) Tennis of Clarkfield, MN, and Sean (Laurie) Tennis of Watertown,              grandchildren, Tiffany (Bryan) Chavira, Whitney (Stephen) Winger, Sierra and Katie Tennis and great granddaughter, Sienna Chavira.
