Robert V Michalski

Robert (Bob) Michalski passed away at the age of 70 at his home on Tuesday, November 26th. He was surrounded by his family until the end after a 2 1/2 year courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at the Furness Funeral Home Saturday, November 30th at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Robin Schaunaman with piano music provided by his granddaughter Danielle. Bob was born April 16, 1943 to Orville and Edith (Heig) Michalski at Mrs. Stacey's in Clark. He grew up on the farm in Hauge Township and went to Hauge County School through eighth grade. Bob went to Clark High School graduating in 1961. Some of his jobs after high school included driving the feed mill for Jerome Schmidt, hauling concrete in Watertown and working to build the Clark nursing home. Bob went to Omaha to auto body school after which he got a job at a body shop in Huron. When his dad, Orville, called him back to the farm he gladly went and spent the next 50+ years farming. In fact, Bob was able to finish combining the corn just two weeks ago with his son Mike. He said how much fun he had combining that wonderful corn crop. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Hanson, on June 20th, 1964 to this union 3 children were born, Mike, Kristi and Cody. Over the years Bob and Sharon had many interests including camping and fishing in the early years and then horse shows with Mike and Kristi, 4-wheeling trips with Cody to the Black Hills, and several trips to Disneyland with all his kids. Bob loved taking Sharon away for the cold winters on many trips to Mexico, Jamaica and 5 winters in the Rio Grande in Texas. Once their kids grew older Bob and Sharon found a new passion to share with them - Harleys. Even though he was a novice rider, having only gotten his first Harley 2 days before, he talked Sharon into hopping on the back of his bike and off they headed to Sturgis. For the next 10 years the whole family went to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally with them, making memories they will never forget. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Karen Spieker. Grateful for having been part of his life were his wife Sharon, children Mike (Kim), Cody (Josie) and Kristi (Sergio); 6 grandchildren Molli Jo (Andrew), Kolton, Charidan, Danielle, Jordan (Ben) and Carver; a great granddaughter Brayli; his sister Virginia (Mart) Bialke; brothers-in-law Gary Hanson and Dutch Mehlberg; and many nieces and nephews. Furness Funeral Home of Clark is serving the family where there is an on-line registry at www.furnessfuneralhome.com
