Name: Robert A. Meyer Dates: Birth date: March 4, 1942 Death date: August 16, 2012 Obituary: Robert Alvin Meyer, 70, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Prairie Lakes Hospital. Visitation will be Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 5-8 PM at Arne-Weerts Funeral Home in Clark. Funeral services will be Monday, August 20, 2012 at 2:00 PM, with visitation starting at 1:00 PM, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Raymond with Pastor Mark Guthmiller officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Valley Cemetery, rural Raymond with Military Graveside Rites provided by Raymond American Legion Baker Post 209. Robert was born on March 4, 1942 in Storm Lake, IA to Alvin and Evelyn (Fessler) Meyer. He was born second of seven boys. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He graduated from high school in Everly, IA. "Bob" was honored to serve four years in the US Navy and was very proud of his three grandsons who followed in his military footsteps. Bob married Marjorie Pigman on August 24, 1962 at a country Lutheran church near Worthington, MN. He was an active member of the Raymond American Legion Baker Post 209; in which he was the Past Post and District Commander positions. Bob was also active church member who was currently serving as chairman of the Bethlehem Lutheran congregation. Bob enjoyed farming and his family. He was known for putting a smile on everyone's face that he met. Bob's corneas were donated to the Lions Eye Bank in Sioux Falls in order to provide sight to another. Bob is survived by his loving wife Marjorie, three children; Dan (Denise) Meyer, Denise (Doug) Olson, Deb Meyer; thirteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, six brothers; Chuck (Joanie) Meyer, Ken (JoAnn) Meyer, Jim (Dottie) Meyer, Floyd Meyer, Alan (Patricia) Meyer, Dennis (Jane) Meyer, mother-in-law; Grace Pigman, two sisters-in-law; Gwen (Jerry) Fleace, Arlys (Gary) Schuett along with many nieces and nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his parents.
