Robert (Bob) Johnson Jr.

Robert (Bob) Johnson, Jr., age 68, of Willow Lake, died Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Avera Heart Hospital of Sioux Falls, SD.

A public visitation will be held Friday, February 10, 2023 from 4-6 PM at Furness Funeral Home of Clark.  Private family burial will be held at a later date at Collins Cemetery of Willow Lake.

Robert (Bob) Johnson, Jr. was born on October 10, 1954 to Robert (Bob) Sr. and Marlene (Urdahl) Johnson in Watertown, South Dakota. Bob was the eldest of his brothers; Dennis and Jim Johnson. He began his schooling at a country school in Clark County through the first grade, then to Willow Lake where he continued his schooling and graduated in 1972. It was during those years that he met the woman who would become the love of his life, Melody Yahn.

Bob began working right after graduation and later reunited with his high school sweetheart, Melody, bringing with him 3 sons; Elton, Jason, and Travis. Bob and Melody were united in marriage on June 28, 1997 and recently celebrated 25 wonderful years of marriage.

Bob began his working career with different jobs and trucking with his father Bob Sr. He worked for several elevators and seed plants in the area throughout his life. Prior to his retirement, he worked for the City of Willow Lake for over 10 years. He and Melody started a small yard care business, Grassroots Yard Care. Lawn care had been a passion of Bob's his whole life. He and Melody continued to keep the Main Street businesses and several others in the Willow Lake area well-manicured.

Bob enjoyed taking drives in the country with Melody and Sophie; his beloved golden retriever. Bob cherished the time he was able to spend with his family and all the wonderful memories that came with it. He also enjoyed feeding birds, gardening, and NASCAR. Bob's real passion though, was helping the people of Willow Lake.

Grateful for having shared Bob's life are his wife, Melody, sons and their families, Elton (Sara), Jordan, Miranda (fiancé Jamie), Skylar (girlfriend Haley), James, and Katelyn; Jason (Amber) and Alexis; and Travis, great grandchildren, Emberly and Saylor, many other loving family members and friends and his two loyal companions Sophie and Goblin.

Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents.

Bob will forever be missed by those who loved him.
