Robert Forest

Robert E. Forest, age 94, of Clark, South Dakota, died at Wookey's Assisted Living Center in the independent apartments with family at his side on Friday, September 30, 2022.

Robert's funeral service was live streamed on our Furness Funeral Home Facebook page and may be watched there at your convenience.

Visitation will be held at the Furness Funeral Home in Clark, SD on Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 5:00PM - 6:00PM and one hour prior to the funeral service. A prayer service and time for sharing will be held on Sunday as well from 6:00PM - 7:00PM. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Clark, SD with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Robert E. Forest was born on November 6, 1927, to parents Oscar and Nancy (Clemons) Forest in Raymond, South Dakota.

He went to school in Raymond where he graduated high school and then joined the Army on March 7, 1946. Robert started working at his father's business, Oscar's Machine Shop; where he had been helping since he was 12 years old. This job he loved and continued for 50 years.

Robert married Doris Brenden in Vienna, SD on March 22, 1948, and they had 3 children: Terry Lee, Randy Dale, and Cathy Jean.

Robert enjoyed going hunting and fishing, woodworking, going to Enemy Swim Lake, and lutefisk dinners. There was virtually nothing he could not make with wood. He completed many projects for his friends and family. He was a member of the United Methodist Church where he was on the building committee, assisted with being an usher and a greeter, was on the church council, in the Methodist Men, and in the American Legion. He was involved with the Clark Fire Department for almost 40 years serving as Chief for several years and a member of the Clark City Council.

Robert will always be remembered as a valued member of the Wookey community. He loved to play pinochle and visit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris, granddaughter Christi Anna Forest, brother Dale and his wife Joyce Forest, and sister Gladys and her husband Burton Bethke.

Robert is survived by his three children; sons Terry (Sue) Forest and Randy (Mary) Forest; daughter, Cathy (Richard) Long; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
