Rick Worth, age 57, Clark, died in the Sanford USD Medial Center in Sioux Falls on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 10AM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark with the Reverend Robin Schaunaman officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Music will be presented by Dorothy Fuller as organist and the Crocker/Bradley Church Choir singing. Active casketbearers will be Bob Seefeldt, Gary Kruthoff, Lynn VanBockel, Mike ONeill, Fred Obermeier, Eric Stevens, Mikel Seefeldt and Keith Warren. Honorary casketbearers will be all friends and family. He was born Rickey James Worth on January 8, 1951 at Hoven, SD, the son of James Quentin and Eileen (Boke) Worth. He attended all 12 years of schooling in the Gettysburg School System graduating in 1969. While in high school he was active in football and wrestling and worked in the meat department of a grocery store. Following his graduation, he attended college at USD in Vermillion for 2 years. On December 4, 1971 he was united in marriage to Nancy Joachim of Agar at Gettysburg. They lived in Gettysburg where Rick did some carpentry work and then worked in the meat department at Cameron Super Value until the late 1970s. It was then at that time in his life he became an insurance agent for a bank in Gettysburg before being transferred to the bank in Clark in 1977. He has remained an insurance agent, through various ownership and name changes of the bank over the years, now known as Bank of the West California. Over the years Rick has been active in many community organizations among them being a coach for Little League in Gettysburg and then served as a coach for the Clark VFW Teener Baseball Team, winning the State Championship in 1991. In 1977 he became the secretary/treasurer of the Clark Industrial Development Company and has served in that capacity until his death. He was a longtime member of the Clark Rotary Club serving as treasurer and was a Paul Harris Fellow. Thursday was mens league day at the Clark Golf Club and Rick could be seen almost every Thursday afternoon playing a round or two of golf, being a member of the golf club for many years as well. Other favorite pastimes of his were fishing, woodworking and watching sports, enjoying many Twins games at the Metrodome. When it came to professional football, there was only one team, the Dallas Cowboys, even going to a game last November with Cory in Dallas. He also participated on a bowling team a few years ago. Around the house, Rick was a great cook especially enjoying barbequing and making a two-crusted cherry pie. He also planted the garden, but it was Nancys job to harvest. Another passion of his was reading and since his grandchildren have come along, he loved reading to them. He was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Faith and has been a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark. Grateful for having shared in his life is his wife Nancy of Clark, son Cory Worth and wife Jill of Beresford, 2 grandchildren, Caitlin and Jeffrey Worth both of Beresford, his parents, James Quentin and Eileen Worth of Aberdeen, and sisters, Marcia Urban and husband Les of Watertown and Roxie Olson and husband Brad of Aberdeen and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his son, Jeffrey James Worth in 1990 and his grandparents. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7 PM at the Furness Funeral Home in Clark and 1 hour preceding services at the Church on Saturday morning.
