Raymond Robert "Ray" Hoch, age 92, rural Henry, died peacefully on Monday evening, September 24, 2012, in the Golden Living Center at Watertown where he had resided since April. Per his request, there will be no funeral services. Burial will take place in the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. The Furness Funeral Home of Clark, www.furnessfuneralhome.com, is serving the family. He was born on June 16, 1920 in a section house near Box Elder, SD, in western South Dakota, the son of Henry and Bonnie Rae (Barry) Hoch. In June of 1941 he served his country honorably in the United States Army until 1945 and then joined the National Guard and continuing serving until May of 1951. On July 5, 1948 he was united in marriage to Regina Harris, at the home of her aunt near Box Elder. They celebrated their 64th anniversary this past July. He received his degree in Education from Black Hills State Teachers College in Spearfish and began a career in education, teaching in Milbank from the fall of 1954 to the spring of 1980. After his retirement, the couple moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas where they resided until April of 2010 when they moved to a farm east of Henry. While living in Arkansas he was active in the area as a handyman, fixing, building and repairing everything from sheds to faucets. Besides his loves of being a handyman, he also enjoyed fishing and camping. Preceding him in death were his parents, a son, Bruce and several siblings. Grateful for having shared his life is his wife Regina of Henry, children, Carol (Conrad) Volk of Baldwin City, KS, Wally (Rita) Hoch of Henry, Linda (Darwin) Conrad of Milbank and Larry Hoch of Minneapolis. He also leaves 4 grandchildren, Michael Volk, Angela (Gabe) Dorsey, Eric (Lindsey) Conrad and Ryan Conrad and a great granddaughter, Amelia Dorsey. A brother, Carlin Hoch of Glendale, AZ also survives.
