Mr. Ray L. Gerber, age 54 of Clark died in the Harris Methodist Ft.Worth Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, October 31. On Wednesday October 25th, Ray suffered a massive cerebral hemorrhage while driving his semi truck in the Gainsville, Texas vicinity. A memorial Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 2PM at the Clark County Fairgrounds, Clark County Horseman's Arena with the Reverend Gary Anderson officiating. Burial will be private. There will be no visitation. A coffee fellowship time will follow services at the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark. Honorary casketbearers are to be anyone who shared a joke, a cup of coffee or ran into Ray when they were having a "bad day". Ray was born 12/20/1951 in Ortonville, MN to Howard and Minnie (Miller) Gerber, and grew up near Wilmot, enjoying many summers in West Yellowstone, MT. He graduated from Wilmot High School in 1970. He lived in Watertown for several years and moved to rural Clark in 1989. He was a long haul truck driver for most of his life and at the time of his death he was self-employed and leased to East River Lumber & Grain of Mobridge, SD. He also worked in heavy construction and was employed by several local area companies, including Clausen Construction of Clark, SD. He married Anita Olson (Bergh) on July 10th 1982 at the home of her parents in Watertown. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, loved horses and the outdoors in general. He was a member of the Crocker Saddle Club for several years. Some of his favorite things were spending time with his dogs and horses, watching local youth in rodeo and sleeping through football games. He will be deeply missed by his wife Anita Gerber of Clark; his sons Brian Gerber of Watertown, Jon (and Nancy) Gerber of Lakewood, CO, Ray (and Stacey) Gerber Jr of Watertown; his stepson Michael Olson of Trenton, MI; his brother Rex (and Polly) Gerber of Watertown, and his 4 grandchildren. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Margaret Bergh of Watertown. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, parents and father-in-law, Perry Bergh. (Someone will be walking around looking at the world through his eyes, living in his skin and having their blood pump through their bodies through his generosity. Anyone who was having a bad day was fortunate to bump into Ray, because he would make that day better for them. It is a comforting thought that when he ran out of miracles, he could still help make a miracle come true for someone else.) The family prefers memorials to be used by their choice in lieu of flowers. Services will be announced by the Furness Funeral Home at Clark where you can email a condolence at www.furnessfuneralhome.com
