Randy Board

Randy Donald Board was born on January 19 ^th , 1951 in Huron South Dakota to Jean & Jacobina (Hofer) Board.  He grew up on a farm in Carpenter, SD. Randy graduated from Willow Lake high school in 1970.

On August 11 ^th 1984, Randy married Shawn Fisher.  They had 1 child together and divorced after being married 15 years, but remained good friends.

Randy drove semi-trucks for Midwest Coast in the 1980's and then worked at the Pilot Truck stop for most of the 1990's. In 1999 he moved to Blunt and worked on a private farm until he was diagnosed with COPD in 2014. Randy then moved to Sioux Falls and attempted to retire but soon found that he wasn't quite ready for that.  In 2016 he traveled to Arizona and did private farming for his long-time friend Lon (Denise) Wurz. He experienced some health issues while down there and decided to come back to Sioux Falls.

In 2017 he moved to Presho and did private farming for his dear friend Scott Terca. The COPD started to become more severe in 2018 and in 2019 he was finally ready for retirement.  He then returned to Sioux Falls where he lived with his daughter.

Randy enjoyed socializing with his friends, playing cards and games, watching TV, reading Western novels, and drinking coffee. He loved being outdoors and prior to his health issues liked to go hunting and to sporting events. Randy really enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh, many called him the "life of the party."  Most of all he loved spending time with his grandsons and watching them grow.

Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Carpenter, SD on February 5 ^th , 2022 at 1pm. A private family burial will be held this spring at the Richland Cemetery in Carpenter.

Randy is proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Curtis Board, his nephews Brad and Joel Brede, and his ex-wife Shawn.

Randy is survived by his daughter Cortney Board (Charles Rada) – Sioux Falls, his Grandsons Nolan and Colin, his siblings Sherry (Dick) Brede – Carpenter, Stella Board ( Cheryl Jauert) – Doland,  Wenda Barber – Vermillion,  Wayne (Sherry) Board – Doland and Sherwin ( Rose Marie) Board – Germany, and, and many nieces and nephews
