Mr. Quintin "Quin" Robert Stangby age 72 of Clark died of an apparent heart attack at his residence in Clark on Tuesday evening. Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Saturday, January 22, 2005 in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel in Clark with the Reverend Roger Semmler officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services in the chapel on Saturday. He was born on March 23, 1933 in Austin City, MN, the son of James Andrew and Lucille Mathilda(Rose) Stangby. He attended school in Minnesota. As a young man he began a career in the men's and young men's clothing business. After some time in that field, he began a new career in the newspaper industry. In 1972 he began work at the Grand Forks Herald as an advertising executive. In 1976 he moved to Iowa and became the director of advertising at the LeMars Daily Sentinel and then in 1982 became the director of advertising and operations at the Storm Lake Daily paper. In the late 1980's he moved to Aberdeen. He also served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. 'Quin' as known to all of his friends, spent many years living in Aberdeen working at the Aberdeen American News and other paper publications in the area. He moved to Clark 10 years ago. Most recently he was employed as a salesman for Sports Specialist out of Wisconsin, specializing in fishing tackle. While living in the communities he was active in many civic and community organizations among them being Rotary International, various Chamber of Commerce groups and the Young Republicans. Some of his fondest moments were spent reading the daily paper, fishing, camping, and making fishing lures and visiting with people. Survivors include three sons, Quintin R. Stangby, Jr. of Odessa, TX, Joe and Jack Stangby both of Chaska, MN., 6 grandchildren, 2 brothers, Tom Stangby of Hillbilly, CA and Jim Stangby of Las Vegas, NV and a special friend and companion, Barb Aalbers of Clark. email condolences at www.furnessfuneralhome.com
