He was born Paul David Orris on August 31, 1950 at Watertown, the son of Robert and Clarice (Bergan) Orris. Paul attended school in Clark, participating in wrestling, graduating in 1968. Paul helped at the family farm and worked road construction with finishing cement.
Paul was united in marriage to Sandy Wicks at the Crocker Lutheran Church on May 28, 1976. The couple lived at Castlewood where he worked for a time at Chickasha Mobile Homes at Watertown. They later moved to a farm site north of Clark in 1996 where he and Sandy built a home, something he was very proud of building mostly himself. He went to work at Chef-Reddy-McCain Foods in the maintenance department. Later Paul worked for the county of Clark in the weed department, retiring in 2017 after 29 years of service.
There wasn't much that Paul couldn't fix, he loved tinkering on most anything, and able to fix it. He enjoyed fishing with the grandkids and taking care of his sheep. Paul enjoyed looking out the big picture window and watching the hundreds of deer around his place. Sitting in his chair nibbling on Hot Tamales and eating Kettle Korn were also favorite pastimes.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Dick and his father-in-law, Austin Wicks along with other family members over the years.
Survivors include his wife Sandy of Clark, sons, Chad (Jenny) Orris of Dakota Dunes and Rob (Baylee Shult) Orris of Clark, grandchildren, Isabel, Eli, Lucy, and Callie and his siblings, Donna Paakkonen of Richfield, MN, Lynda (Byron) Anderson of Saratoga, CA, Jim (Lori Elie) Orris , Loren (Maxine Anderson) Orris, Wayne (Barbara Bays) Orris all of Clark, SD, Helen Jeanne (Jim) Fischbach of Warner, SD. He also leaves his Mother-in-law, Thelma Wicks of Lake Norden.
