Oscar L. Dokken, age 89, Clark, died in the Golden Living Center at Lake Norden on Sunday afternoon, March 11, 2007 after a long illness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 1PM in the Peace Lutheran Church at Clark with the Reverend Mark Guthmiller officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Music will be presented by Karen McGraw as organist with the congregation singing, "Beautiful Savior", "Love Divine,All Love Excelling", and "My Faith Looks Up to Thee". Casketbearers will be Steve Wicks, Bob, Mikel and Jeff Seefeldt. Honorary Casketbearers will be all of Oscar's former neighbors and caregivers. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-6 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and 1 hour preceding services at the Church on Saturday. Oscar L. Dokken was born on December 13, 1917 in Clark County, the son of Alfred and Eva (Olson) Dokken. He was the third of five children. He attended school in Clark County and farmed all of his adult life in Woodland Township, north of Clark. On May 21, 1965 he was united in marriage to Eleanor Marie Seefeldt in the Hague Lutheran Church south of Clark. The couple lived in Woodland Township until having a new home built in Clark in 1980 when they moved into town. They traveled extensively throughout the United States. Mrs. Dokken died on March 2, 2003. In June of 2003 he moved into the Roetell Senior Housing and then in January of 2005 he moved to Lake Norden and lived in the Golden Living Center. Oscar was an avid bowler and a State Champion horseshoe player. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Eleanor, a brother Orvin and two sisters, Bernice Dokken and Blanche Stephenson. He leaves to mourn his sister Audrey Danekas of Sioux Falls, five nieces Bodae Elliott of Watertown, Marian Duff of Cookson, OK, Carol Keeton of Pittsburgh, MI, Marsha Carlson of Des Moines, IA and Mary Lou Ramirez of Austin, TX and two nephews, Al Danekas of Sioux Falls and LeRoy Stephenson of Bates City, MO.
