Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 16, 2003 at 2PM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark with the Reverend Roger Semmler officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Music will be provided by Dorothy Fuller as organist and Roger Nordhus as soloist. Casketbearers will be Todd, Rick and Jon Sundvold, Kelly Fitts and Dale & Eric Solberg. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5-7 PM at the Furness Funeral Home in Clark and after 12:30PM at the Church on Monday. Oasa Dorothea Sundvold, age 100 years, 7 months and 27 days, died in the Beverly Healthcare Center at Clark on Tuesday night, February 10, 2004. She was the widow of Elmer Sundvold. She has lived her entire lifetime in Clark County. She was born in Warren Township, in Northwest Clark County on June 13, 1903, the daughter of Lars and Amanda (Larson) Imsland. She attended school in Clark County and after her high school graduation; she attended Northern Normal (Northern State University) at Aberdeen and obtained her teaching certificate. For a number of years after that, she taught rural schools in Clark, Spink and Day Counties. On March 22, 1939 she was united in marriage to Elmer Sundvold, a longtime livestock dealer and farmer, at the Grace Lutheran Church at Watertown. Mr. Sundvold died on October 4, 1996. She was baptized and confirmed in the Clark Center Lutheran Church northwest of Clark. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living member of St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark where she had taught Sunday School for over 50 years as well as being active in its Womens organizations. When Oasa celebrated her 100th birthday this past June she was recognized by the Century Club of South Dakota, the Governor and President Bush. She will long be remembered for her countless hours of volunteering and entertaining. Some of the community organizations she has been active with for many years includes being a charter member of the American Cancer Society Clark County Chapter, Clark Womens Club, Historical Society, Red Cross Volunteer, Cub Scout Leader and Senior Citizens. She has also received many awards during recent years including being nominated for the South Dakota Women of Achievement Award in 1990, the 1975 Harvest Festival Queen, 2000 Senior Citizens Queen and 1993 Clark Lioness Club Volunteer of the Year Award. Besides her love of volunteering, she also enjoyed crafts and playing bridge. Grateful for having shared her life are her sons, Harland and wife Jean and Ronald and wife Joan all of Clark, five grandchildren, Todd Sundvold of Clark, Natalie Solberg and husband Dale of Dell Rapids, Paula Fitts and husband Kelly of Brookings, Rick Sundvold of Clark and Jon Sundvold and wife Katie of Chicago; 6 great-grandchildren, Eric, Jordan, Tanner and Chloe Solberg all of Dell Rapids and Morgan and Lauren Fitts; sister, Thelma Sullivan and husband John and a sister-in-law, Inez Imsland all of Loveland, CO. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband,step-son, Glenn Sundvold, brothers, Torjus, Edward and Almer Imsland and sisters, Ann Callsen, Bernice Nelson, Laura Ausland and Ida Woods.
