Norman Lee Ragels, age 73, rural Castlewood, died peacefully with his family nearby at his home on Thursday afternoon, August 14, 2014 at a brief illness.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday evening, August 19, 2014 at 7PM in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark with the viewing of a memorial tribute DVD, sharing and fellowship time to follow.
He was born at Conde, SD on December 19, 1940, the son of Lester and Ruth (Lofthouse) Ragels. He attended school in the Conde area. On August 24, 1973 he was united in marriage to Helen Dunlavy at Sisseton, SD. The couple has lived in the Castlewood area for over 30 years. During his lifetime he worked in an Arizona copper mine, at Artic Cat in Minneapolis, MN and for Smith Equipment at Watertown. He spent countless hours hunting, fishing, reading, playing cards and snowmobiling. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors!
Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Arden, Glenn, LaVoy, Gary, and brothers-in-law, Dave Peterson, Bob Dunlavy, Dale Dunlavy and Bill Pendergrass.
Survivors who are grateful for having shared in his life are his wife Helen of Castlewood, son Dean Ragels of Castlewood, granddaughter Mikayla Ford of Watertown, grandson Aidan Ragels of Watertown, daughter Jill and son-in-law Jason Gilliland of Fargo, ND, grandson Brodee and granddaughter Katlynn Gilliland of Fargo, ND, and son Scott Ragels, from a previous marriage; brother Dub (Delbert) and wife Barbara of Oracle, AZ and children, brother Darrell and wife Norma of Tucson, AZ and children, sister Faye Pendergrass of Biscoe, AR and children; sister-in-law Jane and husband Dennis Zinda of Big Lake, MN and children, sister-in-law Catherine Ragels of Mitchell and children, sister-in-law Betty and husband Leroy Wasland of Watertown and children, brother-in-law Darrel and wife Pam Dunlavy of Lewistown, MT and children, sister-in-law Carol Peterson of Buffalo, MN and children, brother-in-law Tom and wife Merlene Dunlavy of Claremont and children, sister-in-law Bonnie and husband Fred McDonald of Missoula, MT and child, brother-in-law Leo and wife Denise of Andover and children, brother-in-law Jan and wife Sandie of Belle Plaine, KS and children, and sister-in-law Kim and husband Kenny Lewis of Damascus, OR and children, and everyone's children's children and so on, along with numerous friends.
