Nina Agatha Troske

Nina Agatha (Kloster) Mehlberg-Troske, age 93, the widow of Herbert Mehlberg and wife of Robert Troske died early Sunday morning, July 10, 2022 at the Avantara Nursing Home in Clark, SD.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 11 AM at the Furness Funeral Home in Clark with Reverend Quaya Ackerman. Visitation will be held that morning from 9 AM to 10:30 AM. Burial will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Clark then lunch will be served back at the funeral home.

Nina was born on July 16, 1928 in Woodland Township, northwest of Clark to parents Louie and Agatha (Tislevoll) Kloster. She was baptized and confirmed at Clark Center Lutheran Church and attended SW Woodland #6 grade school. She graduated from Clark High School in 1946. Following high school, Nina taught grade school for one year at SW Woodland #6.

On February 28, 1947, Nina was united in marriage to Herbert Mehlberg of Raymond. They farmed for many years in Ash Township, north of Raymond. In 1972 they moved their house to Clark and there they remained until Herbert's death.

Nina was one of the first employees of the Clark Care Center when it was built and she worked one year at St. Ann's hospital in Watertown in pediatrics. She then went on to become the secretary to the County Agents and Home Economists in Clark for 22 years. In 1984, she was honored with "State Secretary of the year."

On December 28, 2008, Nina was united in marriage to Robert Troske in Turton, SD.

She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran church where she was active in WELCA and on the church council. She was a member of the Thrifty Gang Extension Club, Raymond Auxiliary, Aid Association for Lutherans, a bridge club, pinochle and whist group, and a birthday club.

Nina's most valuable assets were her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, crafts, volunteer work, rummage sales, genealogy, bowling, board games, and coffee with friends.

Grateful for having shared her life is her daughter: JoAnn (Dennis) Peoples of Rapid City; grandson: Tyler (Sally) Peoples of Highmore; granddaughter: Courtney Peoples of Black Hawk; great grandsons: Brandon and Nathan Peoples of Highmore; one great granddaughter: Allison Peoples of Highmore; stepchildren: Gina (ED) Malsom and family, Steve, Jason, Christopher, Makayla, and John Troske; nieces: Carmen Kloster, Karen (Rich) Ackerman, and Judy (Rick) Bawek; and many other nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Herbert, sisters Irene and Mabel, brothers Arthur and Erwin, and twin brother Paul.
