Nancy A. Fischer, age 74, Clark, the widow of Noel Fischer, died on Thursday afternoon, April 21, 2011 at the Golden Living Center at Clark after a lenghty illness. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 10:30 AM in the United Methodist Church at Clark with The Reverend Dayne Zachrison officiating. Burial will be private. A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from 5-7 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and 1 hour preceding services at the Church on Thursday. Nancy Ann Staley was born in Brookings, SD on October 28, 1936, the daughter of Newton and Isabelle (Trotter) Staley. She attended schools in various South Dakota towns such as Bryant, Kimball and Plankinton. She graduated from Huron High School in 1954 and attended South Dakota State University. She received a Bachelor's of Science degree in home economics in 1958. On December 30th, 1956, she married Noel John Fischer. They moved to Clark shortly afterwards. Noel got a job as a pharmacist at Bockoven Drug Store, and he became a part owner. Nancy worked as a 4-H Extension Agent for several years, working until her children were born. She continued to be involved in both 4-H and Extension. She was a founding leader of the Clarkettes 4-H Club, and spent 25 years as a leader, through the time when the club's name was changed to the Courier Classics. She was a member of an extension club for many years as well. She was a member of P.E.O., a Philanthropic Educational Organization, and a member of the library board, the family commission at Clark Nursing Home, the Historical Society and Farm Bureau. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, as well. Nancy enjoyed playing bridge, and was a member of several different bridge clubs, including 40-plus consecutive years in one of her clubs. She was an accomplished cook and seamstress who enjoyed entertaining friends and family. Nancy and Noel enjoyed gardening, auction sales, and travel. She is survived by two brothers Jim (and Sonja) Staley of Seattle, WA Bob (and Kathie) Staley of Iowa City, IA Five children: Sue (and Harold) Jones of Corning, CA John (and Maureen) Fischer of Golden Valley, MN Amy (and Marko) Fields of Minneapolis, MN Sara (and Josh) Shorter of Hutchison, MN Judy Fischer and Travis Smith of Sioux Falls, SD 11 grandchildren and 2 nieces, 1 nephew, a great-niece and 2 great- nephews She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Noel.
