Myrna Brenden

Myrna Brenden, age 64, Henry, widow of Tom Brenden, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday morning, February 26, 2019 with family at her side.

Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2019 from 4-6 PM at the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the St. Martin's Lutheran Church (WELS) at Watertown with The Reverend Keith Petersen officiating.  Barb Hartley will be the organist and Debbie Engels will be the urn bearer. A private family burial will be held later in the Lorinda Cemetery at Henry.

She was born Myrna Lynn Biberdorf to Raymond A. and Cleo (Swisher) Biberdorf during a very bad snowstorm on February 21, 1955 at Watertown.  The weather was so intense that the neighbors had to shovel in front of Raymond's car just to get to Watertown and the Dr. had to walk to the hospital, thus her determination that she became known for!

Myrna attended school in Henry and graduated from Henry High School in 1973. While in high school she was awarded the Betty Crocker Award, something she was often teased about.

In 1973 she was united in marriage to Tommy "Tom" Brenden at Henry. After her marriage she worked at the Henry Grain Elevator until 1985. A new store in Watertown was opened that year, Shopko, to which she began working at that same year. Myrna continued working at Shopko until just recently when health reasons forced her retirement.

Myrna was a lifelong member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Henry. She has served as organist at the Church since 1971. Myrna also taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and even served as janitor. She was never afraid of a challenge!

She was known for having a green thumb, enjoying gardening, yardwork, as evidenced by the manicured "dream spot" she and Tom built in 1998. Myrna enjoyed birdwatching, spending time with family and friends, and being an avid fan of the Minnesota Wild. She even got to go to watch the Wild, though all the others had no clue what was going on, Myrna hollered the entire time!

Preceding her in death were her parents Raymond A. (2014) and Cleo (Swisher) Biberdorf (2006), husband Tommy "Tom" (2010), and father-in-law, O'Dean Brenden (2001).

Survivors include her children, Chelsey (John) Wiik of Big Stone City, Leslie Brenden (Tim Grygiel) of Florence, and Jared (Julie) Brenden of Henry, SD; 7 grandchildren, Connor, Cody, Kyle, Zach, Allison, Dylan, and Kayla. She also leaves siblings, Linda (Gary) Owen of Henry, Nancy (Marlin) Maynard, Gary (Kelly) Biberdorf all of Clark, and Carla (Gene) Herr of Aberdeen; in laws including mother-in-law, Mavis Brenden of Watertown, brother-in-law, Danny (Kathy) Brenden of Vienna, and sisters-in-law, Jodean (Lee) Tice of Moorpark, CA, and Dawn (Al) Koch of Watertown, as well as many nieces, nephews and a host of other family members.

The Furness Funeral Home at Clark is serving the family where there is an on-line registry at www.furnessfuneralhome.com
